 Our mission and passion is to breed, promote, and produce elite Paint Cowhorses that are competitive and excel against the top horses in the Cowhorse industry. 

At War Ponies we realize that you cannot make Paint Cowhorses that are competitive simply by breeding paint horses . Our program is simple, we intend to breed proven, competitive paint cowhorses within one generation. Thus our programs main focus is breeding top earning or producing Quarter Horses to earning or top producing Paint Horses.

War Ponies, Elite Paint Cowhorses is owned & operated by Joey & LeeAnn Slipher. Our family has been breeding & raising horses in the same location for over 100 years. Our adventure with APHA Paint horses started in 2009 and has blossomed into a labor of love over the years. In 2017 when our search for an APHA Reined Cowhorse turned up nearly no results we knew where to focus our energy! Where there is demand and no supply, a smart man creates the supply.
